A Christmas tree festooned with decorations; the family sitting down to enjoy a feast; gifts that come from the heart. That’s how a typical Christmas Day goes for many families – but not for all children in Romania. Many needy families live there, and having nothing to unwrap on Christmas morning is sad reality. To change this, various campaigns for needy children have been launched at ContiTech in the preparation of Christmas.
For six years now, employees in Hanover have been collecting donations of items and money. The Christmas aid campaign was a success again this year, with around 200 lovingly wrapped and labeled packages donated. With the 1,000 Euro donated in addition they bought some more presents.
Furthermore, a “personal Santa” campaign was launched at the ContiTech plant in Romania three years ago. The idea: Needy children write letters asking for gifts – officially addressed to Santa Claus. The employees of ContiTech then fulfill them. When the campaign first started, 20 letters were received. This time, there were 91 requests for gifts. ContiTech would love to break a hundred next year.
Both activities were also actively and financially supported by the employees in Timişoara: For example, many colleagues helped to renew the packaging damaged by the transport and to distribute the gifts to the children. Without to this great teamwork in Hanover and Timişoara, the Christmas campaign would not have been possible.
