Heart of the Brewer's Art

The Weyermann malthouse steeped in tradition relies on our hygienic and robust beverage industrial hoses

The Purple Snake hose is odorless and taste-neutral, especially temperature-stable at up to +90°C (194°F) and easy to clean. The world heritage city of Bamberg in Franconia is widely considered to be the beer capital of the world. The average per capita rate of consumption is more than 66 gallons annually. Around sixty breweries in the city and in the nearby surrounding area produce over 400 artisan beers, ranging from smoked beer, cellar beer and lager to Bock beer – nowhere else in the world will you find so many different beers within such a small area. Brewers and suppliers must meet the highest standards to stay in business. The Weyermann malthouse founded in 1879, satisfies these requirements with its own brewery and beer manufactory. Its large range of inhouse malt varieties actually makes Weyermann the global market leader in specialty malts.

Characteristic malt aroma entices visitors upon arrival

Together with the Bavarian Weyermann malthouse, Continental brews its own beer using Continental hose solutions – the Continental 'Industrial Pale Ale'.The first sensory impression for anyone arriving in the city of Bamberg by train is likely to be a fragrant waft of the pleasantly bitter-sweet scent of freshly roasted Weyermann malt. Around 240 staff are employed at the manufactory, which has kept its historic early 20th century facade and can be seen from the railway station. At least 60 members of staff are qualified brewers, malt manufacturers, master brewers or engineers. Among them is beer sommelier Constantin Förtner. He explains why this historic company relies on our beverage, air, and water hoses: “Purity is our top priority. If this was not 100% guaranteed at each stage of production, it could affect or even spoil our product. Industrial hoses by Continental are completely hygienic, and robust enough to withstand tough production conditions on a daily basis."

A tasteful demonstration of the trusting partnership between Weyermann and Continental

This trust is based on reciprocity. Which is why we, together with the experts in Bamberg, created and brewed our very own beer: The Industrial Pale Ale, which we served at the Agritechnica agricultural show and the BrauBeviale trade fair in Nuremberg. Beer connoisseurs visiting our stand were impressed by the full-bodied top-fermented pale ale with its distinctive hops aroma.

Stephan Renz Our sales representative Stephan Renz advises breweries in Southern Germany and Switzerland on hose-related issues and appreciates the good Franconian beer:

"The inner tube is perfectly smooth and ensures the purity of the hose required by the brewer."

Our industrial hose solutions were used in its manufacture, such as the Purple Snake beverage hose and the Aquapal potable water hose. The food-compliant inner tube of the Purple Snake industrial hose makes it odorless and taste-neutral. It is stable at temperatures up to +90°C (194°F), and the hose lining is easy to clean thanks to the smooth inner tube. The valve fitting pressed in with the high-tech hose also contributes to the purity, because the components fit seamlessly. Bacterial hotspots and turbulences are therefore a thing of the past.

Worldwide renowned quality

Breweries around the world rely on our robust and high-quality hose solutions in the manufacturing and brewing process to reduce process failures, ensure product purity at all stages of the process chain and ensure hygienic and reliable transportation. This also includes the beverage and food hoses in the Blaudieck range.

Constantin Förtner Constantin Förtner is a beer sommelier at the historic Weyermann malthouse in Bamberg:

“The hose also must not kink when the brewer is not quite so gentle with it.”
