CONTI SpliceProtect

High-performance splice monitoring system for steel cord conveyor belts

CONTI SpliceProtect

CONTI SpliceProtect is a stationary system that monitors the elongation of steel cord conveyor belts. Splice failure is avoided by measuring the distance between unique magnetic markers embedded in each splice.

Applications

CONTI SpliceProtect is typically used to monitor high-tension steel cord conveyor belts for irregular splice length changes. This system is a high-precision, magnetic-based technology that measures the distance of magnetic markers embedded in belt splices to monitor for critical splice lengthening. Steel cord belt splices tend to elongate when getting damaged, which could result in a catastrophic and costly splice failures. Specifically designed for inclined high-tension conveyors, CONTI SpliceProtect ensures operational safety.

Key Features

  • High-resolution splice elongation monitoring
  • Splice identification with magnetic markers

Functionality

Magnetic markers
  • Magnetic markers identify each splice and indicate its current length
  • When magnetic markers pass sensor heads, belt speed, time and distance are tracked
  • Related to the operational belt tension, the splice lengthening is monitored
  • System stops conveyor in case of critical splice elongation

Installation

  • Four high-resolution magnetic sensors to be installed, two sensors each in the area of the left and right edges of the belt
  • Installation of sensors possible above or below belt
  • Installation preferably at maximum belt tension location
  • Magnetic markers are ideally implemented during splicing works, but also a retrofit installation is possible
